Modern Mesh Sunrise Throw

Hello there! It's about time I actually wrote out this lovely blanket pattern. It has been by far my most popular video on my YouTube channel (which I posted a year ago), and I just never got around to posting the instructions on this blog. Many people have asked for it, so here she is!!

Full video tutorial is linked below.

Level:

Advanced Beginner/Intermediate

Finished Size:

Approximately 39" x 60"

Materials:

Approx. 1620 yards of size 4 weight yarn

I used 2 balls of Crafters Secret Big Idea in Sungold

Size L/8 mm crochet hook

Size K/6.5 mm crochet hook

Stitches Used:

Sl st - slip stitch

Hdc - half double crochet

Chainless Triple Crochet (stacked triple crochet) - Used as first triple crochet stitch in rows indicated. Turn without a turning chain, sc in first stitch, *turn stitch to the side, sc into the 2 side loops. Repeat from *.

Double Crochet Puff Stitch - Yo, insert hook into stitch, yo, pull through a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops on your hook. Yo, insert hook into same stitch, yo, pull through a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops on your hook, yo, insert hook into same stitch, pull through a loop, yo, pull through first 2 loops on your hook. Yo, pull through 4 remaining loops on your hook. (It's like you are beginning 3 dc into same stitch, but the last pull through is done all at once)

R1- Using size L/8mm hook, chain 101. (Chain should be a multiple of 3+2, if you need to adjust size - add or subtract chains in increments of 6). Turn chain over, sc in second chain from hook, and in each chain across. (100 sc)

R2- Chain 2, turn, skip first stitch, slip stitch into next stitch. *Chain 2, skip next stitch, slip stitch into next stitch. Repeat from * across, ending with a slip stitch in last stitch.

R3- Chain 2, turn, slip stitch into first ch 2 space. *Chain 2, slip stitch into next ch 2 space. Repeat from * across.

Rows 4-40 repeat row 3. (1 row of sc, 39 rows of the mesh stitch) This section should be about 11", if you need to increase or decrease this first section, make sure your mesh row count is an odd number.

R41- Now using the size K/6.5mm hook, chain 1, hdc into the first stitch (the sl st from previous row). Hdc in next ch 2 space and in each sl st across row ending with a hdc in last ch 2 space.

R42- Turn without a turning chain. Chainless triple crochet into first stitch*. Triple crochet in each stitch across row. *Or you can substitute a chain 4 as your first triple crochet stitch.

R43- Chain 1, turn, hdc in each stitch.

R44- Chain 3, turn. Double crochet puff stitch into first stitch. *Skip 2 stitches, sl st into next stitch. Chain 3, double crochet puff stitch into same stitch. Repeat from * across row, ending with a sl st in last stitch. We'll call this a "sideways puff stitch" LOL.

R45- Chain 1, turn, hdc into first stitch. *Chain 2, skip the puff stitch, hdc into next sl st. Repeat from *, ending with your last hdc into the first chain of the beginning chain 3 of previous row.

R46- Turn without a chain, chainless triple crochet into first stitch. *Place 2 tr in next chain 2 space. Tr into next hdc. Repeat from *.

R47- Chain 1, turn, hdc in each stitch across.

R48- Switch back to size L/8mm hook. Chain 2, turn, repeat row 2. Continue in mesh stitch pattern for 38 more rows.

Repeat lace stitch section (rows 41-47, 7 rows total)

Alternate between mesh and lace stitch sections for a total of 3 lace stitch sections and 4 mesh stitch sections (the last section is in the mesh stitch).

Last Row - Using smaller size K hook, chain 1, turn, sc into first stitch, *sc in ch 2 space, sc in next sl st. Repeat from * across. Finish off!
